WELSH SOCIETY.
Members and friends of the Auckland Welsh Society met at the Overseas League rooms for their monthly meeting. Mr. W. J. Edwards, vice-president, was in the chair. A good programme was rendered by Miss Sharp. Miss M. Green, Mr. Stan Evans and Mr. D. R. Davies. The accompanist was Miss Sharp. A one-act play was presented by Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Norman. In the second part of the programme Mr. D. R. Davies explained the meaning of some old Welsh phrases and parables. Mrs. Carey Williams, in costume, gave some Welsh recitations. The president welcomed visitors, among whom were Mr. Griffiths. Mr. Friars, from H.M.S. Leander, and Mr. and Mrs. Best.
