MARKETS ARE STEADY. POTATOES SELL FREELY. \ allies on the local strain and produce markets have been steady since last report and scarcely any chanties have taken place. The pollard position continues very firm. Supplies from the local mills are hard to obtain and stocks of Australian will be light before the next important shipment comes to hand about the end of June. There is a good demand for pollard and bran has a freer inquiry. The only alteration in the market for horse feed is that supplies of good quality cJtall are mpre plentiful. Last week's shipment of Australian wheat has now been distributed and denleiw' stocks have accordingly been replenished throughout the province. Barley is spiling more freely, but supplies of maize, while fairly plentiful in the Gisborne district, appear to be short in the Bay of Plenty. Heavy shipments of potatoes from the south have been dealt with during the past week and the next cargo is not due ! till Monday. There w an excellent j demand at about £7 per ton for whites | and 5/ more for reds. Onions from Pukekohe are still selling at 1.1/ per ewt.
