VESSEL DAMAGED.
British Destroyer Hit by Torpedo. AOUiDENT AT EXERCISES. British Official Wireless. (Received 1 p.m.) RUGBY, May 27. H.M. destroyer Amazou which, it was officially announced to-day, was holed by a torpedo during exercises off Portland during the week, returned to Portsmouth under her own steam and docked for examination. It is understood that the damage is not serious, but the destroyer's plates were pierced just below the water-line and the impact opened an oil tank, a considerable quantity of oil being wasted. The accident occurred during torpedo practice. There was no personal injury.
