REUNION LUNCH.
WOMEN WRITERS' CLUB. EX-SECRETARY HONOURED. The ex-members of the Women's WritPKs Club held one of their re-union luncheons at (Jeorgc Court's tearooms, Karangahape Road, recently. The gathering on this occasion was to welcome the efficient and popular ex-secre-tary. Mrs. Gilbert, 1 who is at present holding a position under the Education Board at Maketu, and is at present on leave. There was a fairly large gathering of members, and after lunch Mrs. Gilbert gave a short but interesting talk on the historic interest attaching to Maketu, chiefly to its possessing one of the old famous original Maori" canoes, which is much prized and held "tapu" by the Maoris. After her talk a vote of thanks was passed, and a bouquet was presented to Mrs. Gilbert. Among other speakers were Mrs. C-luett and Mrs. Crump, both ex-presidents of the Writers' Club, and Mrs. Nello Porter, the new president of the Penwomen's Club.
