SOCIAL EVENING.
CARDS AND DANCING. POWER BOAT ASSOCIATION. The flag officers and committee of the New Zealand Power Boat Association held the first of a series of social evening in the Catholic Women's Lea<nie rooms on Saturday night. The function was well attended, dancing and bridge being the entertainment provided. The lounge, where cards were played was decorated with bowls of autumncoloured chrysanthemums while the ballroom was hung with clusters of balloons which were distributed among the dancers later in the evening. In the absence of the commodore, Mr. F. Pidgeon and Mrs. Pidgeon, the guests were received by the vice-commodore, Mr. Herbert Walker and Mr«. Walker, the latter wearing a graceful frock of black satin. The ladies' committee comprised: Mrs. Bell-Booth, who was wearing a frock of midnight blue crepe; Miss 'May Tyrell, in leaf preen moire satin; Miss Joyce Mason, lacquer red coin-spotted taffetas; Miss Betty Henderson, navy blue lace; Miss Bettv Hamblin, gold shimmer satin; Miss Gwen Miles, Burgundy ring velvet. Others present included:— Mesdames P. Hamblin, L. Philpot, L. Alfred, E. Turner, A. Payne, S. Pees, C. Francis] F. L. Rathbone, M. Lock, G. Cain, R.' .Johnson, M. McMahon, J. G. Witeon, E.
