CONTROL IN AUSTRALIA. CERTIFICATES OF CHARACTER. CANBERRA, May 12. In future aliens who want to corae to Australia will have to submit photographs of themselves and certificates of health aiul character. None of them will he allowed to go to the canefields in Queensland, because the Ministry is satisfied that there is already ample labour in those areas. These two announcements are contained in a statement on migration policy issued on behalf of the Minister of the Interior, Mr. McEwen. Some of the chief principles are:— Alien migration will receive no encouragement or financial assistance. Nothing will be done to facilitate the group migration of aliens, ami congregation of foreigners in particular areas will be prevented.
