LAWN DERBY'S EFFORT. REDUCES COURSE TIME. SYDNEY, May 16. Lawn Derby, the outstanding pacer in Australia, attempted to break the Australian and Xew Zealand free-legged pacing record for a mile at Harold Park course to-day, but he failed, his time being 2.2 4-5, or 2-5s outside Walla Walla's time. However, the track was sligiitly holding. Later. Lawn Derby broke his own course record for a mile and a half by 2s when he wou the Harold Park Handicap in 3.14 1-5.
