PAKURANGA HUNT.

MANY VISITORS ATTEND,

The opening <Tay of the Pakurangn Hunt was held at East Tnniaki on Saturday under ideal weather conditions. La'te summer sun and recent rains had made the fields perfect for riding, and the setting for the hunt, with the yellow gorse and bright green fields made an attractive picture.

There was an unusually large number of followers, and the spectators also were numerous. The programme for the day started with breakfast at the East Tamaki Hall, after which Mr. H. Bullock Webster, the master, welcomed visitors and monVbere and thanked the farmers for their permission to hunt over the land. Following the hunt, at which there were two kills, members were entertained at tea at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Smith. The Vice-Regal party comprised Viscountess Hal way, Major R. G. G. Byron, military secretary to the Governor-General, and Mrs. Byron, and Major and Mrs. G. B. Parkinson. His Excellency the Governor-General. Viscount Galway, and his children, the Hon. Simon Monckton-Arundell, and the Hons. Mary, Celia and Isabel Mockton, were riding.
