ON EAST COAST
RAILCAR SERVICE.
QUESTION* KEPT IX VIEW
The question of placing a railcar in scr\ ice in the East Coast district about Taneatua has not been lost sight of, according to advice received bv the Auckland C hamljer of Commerce from the Minister of Railways, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan.
The ehiimlier had sought an indication of the approximate date when railoars would be available on the Taneatua line. This week the Minister replied as follows: —
"I regret to have to inform you that in view of the continued difficulty in obtaining the requisite materials from overseas for the construction of railcars for the building pi-ogramme in hand, it is at present quite impractical lie to give an estimate regarding the approximate date of the availability of a railcar for the East Coast eervice."'
The communication ended with the assurance that the question was kept in view.
