LONDON, April 27
The Chinese have cut some of the dykes along the banks of the Yellow River, according to a Shanghai message.
Japanese reports state that thousands of Chinese civilians are evacuating the area served by the Tientsin-Pukow raihvay. This was accepted as an indication of the Chinese plan to cut the dykes.
The result will be flooding of an enormous area held by the Japanese.
Taiyuan, capital of Shansi, and the latest important centre long held by the Japanese, is threatened by the Chinese, who are attacking furiously, says a Shanghai dispatch.
In a Tokyo message the Japanese claim to have captured Fensi, in southern Shansi, putting to rout 6000 and killing 300 Chinese.
