The young liird championship was flown from l'aekakariki, 2Sli miles, ami only one lord arrived home 011 the day of liberation, taking all the prize money and winning the silver challenge cup outright. MAXV BIRDS LOST IN SEASON. The Northern Racing Pigeon Club held its final race of the young bird season, the one-bird championship, during tho weekend. The birds were liberated at I.evin. and the winning bird covered the 2t>3 miles to its loft at Mount Eden in just over "1 hours. It had earlier proved its ability by winning a 2211-mile race, from Huntervillo. while the second and third birds had each been second ill race-: Irom Hunterville. and the fourth bird had won the Oliakune race. Donaldson's b c e I'aso Rohles. 1002 yards 4 The continual northerly winds rendered the past youtiK-bird season the most strenuous and severe for very many years and the losses were heavy by ail owners. In a number of races very few birds honied in raei. time, while in two races no birds arrived home on the day of liberation. S. Webb, of Mount Eden, wins by a comfortable margin the young bird average prize, awarded to the owner with the highest average position in the whole series of young bird races.
