EFFECT IN AUCKLAND. DIVISION OPPOSED. VIEWS OF MR. T. V. WELLS. If Auckland was divided its costs would increase proportionately and the amount of money the Auckland Board could expend 011 its schools would be lessened.

"Even if Auckland is divided into three districts," said Mr. Wells, "I do not think that the northern portion of the Hauraki Plains and Well-ford and \\arkvvorth districts should be taken awav from us."

Other proposals with which Mr. Wells expressed disagreement were the annual election of committees and the establishment of training colleges in all the new centres. "I think four years' service, with half the members retiring e Y|, ry tu'o years, is much better for the efficiency of the work." he said. Native schools, in his opinion, should be brought within the jurisdiction of the board.

BOYS IN CABINET FACTORY,

Entrance was gained by remo\ing a piei-e of flex which was used to hold the sliding door in position. Once inside, the intruders preceded to make play with a brush which w'as found in a tin of ldaek polish. A couple of dozen radio cabinets minus their receivers were in the polishing room off the faetorv and eight of these were splashed, mostly on the inside, with the thin black polish, while a few odd pieces of wood standing against the wall were similarlv treated.
