LIMIT CATCHES.

FISHING AT TAUPO. GOOD SPORT REPORTED. 12 LB RAINBOW TAKEN. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. Good fishing in the Taupo-Tongariro district, but indifferent sport in other parts of the area under his control, is reported by the conservator of fish and game, Mr. A. Kean, in his fortnightly report upon angling activities in the Rotorua-Taupo acclimatisation district. Limit catches in the Taupo area, particularly in the vicinity of Waitahanui, were fairly conn.-on. Waihaha, Whangamata and Whakaipo again fished well, limits also being secured there. The condition of the fish taken was generally good. Anglers also enjoyed good sport at the Tokaanu end of the lake, good catches being reported from both the Tongariro River itself and the Belt*. Tauranga-Taupo fished well, and Hatepe, Jellicoe Point and Motuopa yielded good sport. -* The heaviest rainbow landed was one of 121b taken by Mr. E. Wliiteman, flyfishing at the Delta, while a brown trout of 11 Jib was landed by a local angler at the Log Pool on Tongariro. In the Rotorua lakes district very difficult conditions were encountered. Lake temperatures continued to be high, but it was" nevertheless found that the fish had moved out of the mouths of the cold streams and that they were very difficult to catch. Some ?ood bags were reported by anglers fishing in deep water. Rotoiti was not very much fished and here again anglers reported the fish very difficult to take. „ Anglers fishing the Wairakei stretch of the Waikato River had good results, while dry-fly fishing below Huka Falls was also popular and profitable. The rivers in the Bay of Plenty were back to normal and better bags were reported.
