SACK STANDARDS
POSITION OF INSTITUTE. Following comment and reports that have appeared in connection with various trade sacks which are being considered for the standardisation of produce measures in New Zealand, Mr. L. J. McDonald, secretary of the New Zealand Standards Institute, has issued a statement explaining the position of that body. "There can be no justification for the impression that this institute desireß that any particular sack be adopted as a standard," he states. In carrying out an official test of the capacity of one particular sack in Christ church, the institute is seeking to ascertain the facts, and emphasises that this test does not commit the position finally. The institute seelcs to provide machinery whereby the various interests can come together to examine the position and decide what standards shall be adopted.
