OTAGO GROWERS' PETITION

The Hon. W. Lee Martin. Minister of Agriculture, announced to-dav that the fruit growers of the Ota go' provincial district have submitted ail effective petition for the handling of their export fruit by the Fruit Control Board.
Aftei the passing of the Fruit Control Act. 1924. the growers of the Otago district availed themselves of the provisions allowing them to dissociate themselves from export control, and a petition signed by 70 per cent, of those eligible to vote was necessarv before the provisions of I'art one of'the Act could again apply. A petition sinned by the requisite number had been received, and the "<l'azette ' notice necessary to <:ive effect to their wishes »*s to he ' published next week.
