PLEADED GUILTY.
LABOURER FOR SENTENCE. BREAKING AXD ENTERING. (Jiy Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. Pleading guilty t a charge of breaking and entering the shop of a second-hand dealer in Victoria Street, and <. tea ling a quantity of good.s. John William Devcnish Meares. aged 21, labourer, of Tauranga. was convicted by Mr. S. L. Patersoil. h'.M.. in tlie Police Court to-day :Vnd coniniitted for sentence in the Supreme. Court at Auckland.
Evidence of theft was given by Jack Markham, owner of the ship, who identified the goods, including a. pair of field glasses and case, three wristlet watches, one pocket watch, a penknife, a cigarette ca.se. handkerchiefs, three rhirtt?. a suit and two overcoats. Six other articles were not recovered, including a camera.
Accused, in a statement, admitted the theft and stated that he had arrived in Hamilton on March 12 from Wanganui ■'broke.'' He entered the shop the same night and had given the camera to a man in Wellington.
