PUKEKOHE PRODUCE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOIIE, Tuesday. With, the holiday period past, the market is much' the same for local potatoes as it was a fortnight ago. prices still ranging from £10 10/ to £11 10/ ,per ton f.o.r. Pukekoiie. The demand, however, is now becoming quieter, owing to competition from oilier centres, but the heaviest part of the season, the digging and (shipping of the early and main crops, is practically finished. A large proportion of the second crop, now being grown, is generally retained for seed, and consequently shipments ill ease off from now onwards. Onion crops are now rapidlv approaching maturity, and supplies have improved considerably in the past week. With the holiday season over ha; vesting of the crops will probably be commenced very soon by most growers. A short time ago indications pointed to the onion crops being lather scratcliv. bin since then the position has improved, and although nil growers will not obtain normal yields the season should be fairly satisfactory. The demand as yet is still on the quiet side, but ail improvement should be felt as soon as imported supplies are exhausted. During the past week prices eased by "J/ pet- cwt, and merchants are now quoting 10/ per cwt f.o.r. J'ukekohe. The demand for fresh vegetables is a little quieter, probably on account of so many people being away on holiday. All prices are firm on last week's rates. Drumhead cabbages selling at 4/ per large sack; spring cabbages at 4/ per large sack; carrots, 8/6 per sugar bag; green peas, 5/ per sugar bag of approximately 301b; cauliflowers are not available.
