TWO MORE RACES.

WELLINGTON AND TAURANGA.

FOUR DIFFERENT WINNERS. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") PLIMMERTOX, Tuesday. The third and fourth races in the Cornwell Cup contest decided at Plimmerton to-day resulted in wins for Wellington and Tauranga. The score now stands at a win each for Auckland. Paremata and to-day's winners. In view of the probability of a long contest it is hoped to sail three races to-morrow.

Both races to-day were sailed in a northwesterly breeze that freshened at times in the morning but remained light in the afternoon. The morning race was sailed over a windward and leeward course of three laps, starting at 10.10 a.m. The start was a good one and it was not long before Wellington, sailing in Valeta, went to the front to lead by three minutes on completion of the first round. Wellington maintained their position without serious challenge to the end of the race. Tauranga completed the first round in second place and Paremata was a close third. Tauranga was sailing.Rascal and Paremata Xukumai. In the oiecOnd round there was a change of positions between second

and third boats, when Paremata rounded the buoy for the second time ahead of Tauranga. At the entl of tlite round Wellington was lm 46s ahead. On the last beat up to the finishing line Wellington maintained her position and finished 2m 49s ahead. Paremata made a long board to«starboard, but Tauranga kept inshore and beat Paremata over the line for second place by 355. The finishing times for the first three boats were: Wellington (Valeta), *lh 39m 34e; Tauranga (Rascal I, llh 41m 235; Paremata (Xukumai), llh 41m s!te. The Fourth Race. In the afternoon a triangular course of three laps was sailed in a breeze that had dropped away slightly, though it was still from the same quarter. The Otago crew, sailing the Auckland boat Swish, were unfortunate in breaking their mast just before the start of the race, and the start was delayed for Auckland, who ran ashore. The draw for the afternoon race resulted:—Wellington (Rascal), Auckland (Valeta). Tauranga (Valeta II.), \N anganui (Wairoa); Christchurch (Oakie). Manukau (Billy Boy), Plimmerton (Twink), Otago (Swish), Suva (Xukumai). Wellington was first over the line with Tauranga and Paremata close up. Tauranga weathered Wellington rounding the first buoy. On the run down Plimmerton were the only crew to carry their spinnaker to port, and they went through to lead Wellington and Paremata. At the end of the second round Tauranga had a lead of lm 35s from Wellington, the third boat, Paremata, being 15e later. On the last round Tauranga opened up her lead, but Paremata planed well on the run and beat Wellington to the buoy. The race started at 3.13 p.m., and the first three boats to finish were Tauranga. 3h 52m 13s; Paremata, 3h 53m 50s" Wellington. 3h 54m.
