YOUNG BOY DROWNED.
BATHING FATALITY. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKT, this day. Bobby Mclhvraith, aged eight, son of Mr. R. I. Mcllwraith. manager of the Opotiki Hotel, was drowned at Waiotahi beach yesterday afternoon. The boy went to the beach with Mrs. E. Oswald and her two sons, the boys rushing down to the water immediately after undressing. What happened is not known, but the boy disappeared, apparently stepping off a shelf into deep water. The body has not yet been recovered. although large crowds searched tie beach all night.
