ASSAULT CHARGE.
ALLEGED USE OF BOTTLE.
HOTEL COOK IN HOSPITAL.

A hotel cook, John William Wellington, was taken to hospital from Willis Street at 1.10 a.m. to-da.v suffering from severe head injuries. At the Magistrate's Court before Mr W- F. Stilwell, K.M., to-day James Patrick Shivnan (46), a blacksmith, was charged with assaulting \Vellinoton so as to cause actual bodily harm. Detective-Sergeant Doyle said the injured man was alleged to have been struck with a bottle.
A remand till January 12 was granted, ball of £50 being allowed.
