BOUND FOR MOTUIHI.
CHILDREN'S HEALTH CAMP.
FIRST PARTY LEFT TO-DAY,
Selected to enjoy the first health camp of the Community Sunshine Association at Motuihi Island this season, 150 excited children left this morning by the Hauiti. They are under the charge of Major N. J. Tjevien and members of his staff, and they will spend a fortnight's holiday under splendid conditions.
In all 1500 children will be accommodated this season, and a staff of 20 people has been engaged to care for them, including a matron and a trained probationary nurse. In addition to the facilities for open-air life afforded at the island there will be organised sport, with instruction in swimming. Special diet charts will be kept, following a system prepared by members of the Auckland Hospital staff.
There will be two other camps for a similar period during the summer holidays, and the camps will be continued until May, teaching arrangements having been made by the Auckland Education Board. The children for the first three camps have been selected from the city, but for the later ones children will come from all over the outer Auckland district. There will be a special camp for 150 Maori children from native schools throughout the province.
