AUSTRALIA WINS THE TESTS.

U.S.A. AND GERMANY BEATEN.

Australia defeated United States in the tennis Test match by four rubbers to one. Australia won three singles and the doubles match and lost one singles. J. E. Bromwich, the New South Wales junior, was successful in his two singles games.

The outstanding match resulted in a splendid win for Bromwieh, over Budge, the world champion. He kept a great length with his drives and exploited a weakness in Budge's forehand. Bromwieh was steadiness personified and easily returned the American's fastest services. Budge found net excursions unavailing. The Australian recovered from o—3 in the third set to lead 5—3 and then lapsed. He made no mistake in the fourth set, when he recovered from I—4. Quist had a hollow win against Mako and was not extended at any stage. Mako's game was full of errors from simple returns and wild shots. Results:— SINGLES. J. E. Bromwieh (Australia) heat J. D. The tennis Test match, at Brisbane, between Australia and Germany was conceded to the former. A failing light stopped the second doubles match, when the score was two sets all.
