BREAK-UP PARTY.
OTAHUHU KINDERGARTEN. A large gathering of parents and friends attended the Otahuhu Free Kindergarten's annual Christmas party. The children rendered "Jingle Bells," which heralded the appearance of Santa Claus (Mr. Carswcll), who made an ideal Santa. After the carols by the children Santa distributed presents from a loaded gaily decorated Christmas tree. Morning tea was served by the Mothers' Club committee, comprising Mesdames Parry, Squires, Turner. Oilman, Gordon, Pee, Carson, Montgomery, Trainor, Jones and Harris. PRINCIPAL TO RETIRE. Parents and friends of the children of Clifton Preparatory School, Mount Eden, were entertained at a breaking-lip party on Friday morning. The principal, Miss (iladys Erson, received the guests. Contributions from the children were collected for Dr. Barnardo'e Poor Boys. It was stated that Christmas gifts and clothing for the poor in Auckland would be sent to Sister Esther for distribution, and toys to the Otahuhu Free Kindergarten. After the distribution of prizes, Miss Erson announced her intention of retiring from Clifton School, which had been founded by Miss G. H. Fraser and herself in 1920. On behalf of parents, past and present, Mrs. H. D. Crump expressed their great regret, also their appreciation of Miss Erson's work.
