CHUTE SE COMPLAINANT.

The complainant in a summons charge of assault brought against George Harvey Ford, who did not appear, in the Police Court to-day was Ah Wing, a Chinese laundryman, of Grey's Avenue. Ah Wing, through an interpreter, told I Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., that Ford : entered the laundry, used obscene language and struck him twice, blacking one of hie eyes. Sub-Inspector Fox said defendant's explanation to a constable was that lie was attacked by the Chinese after he had asked him the result of a football match. Disbelieving this explanation, the magistrate fined Ford £4 and ordered that half the fine should be paid to the | Chinese.
