Mental specialists are becoming alarmed at the increasing number of cases of insanity. The increase w not confined to England; it has been noted in nearly every civilised country. For example, the number of insane persons in the United States has increased during the last 25 years from 17.'1 to 22.1 persons per 100,000 head of the population.
