LIAISON WORK.
TEACHERS APPOINTED., VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE FOUR MAIN CENTRES. Advice was receive*! by the Auckland Education Board from the Education Department this morning that in order to provide a more systematic npprorch to educational and vocational guidance, the (loverninent had approved the appointment of two teachers in each technical college in the four centres as half-time vocational guidance officers, who would act as liaison officers between post-primary sohools and the placement branch of the• Labour Department.
The officers appointed for the Auckland area were Mr. E. M. Scott and Miss D. C. Henderson, on the staff of the Seddon Memorial Technical College. The Department stated that the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, was prepared to approve the ap|>ointment in each other post-primary school in those centres of a "careers teacher." whose duty would be to act in co njuration with the vocational guidance officers, in regard to pupils. "It should be extended to the larger country centres," said one of the members.
The chairman (Mr. T. U. Wells): Probably they are only feeling their way, and if it is a success it will be extended.
