STABLE HAND'S DEATH

I A s.-<;ii"l to the death of Reginald .lack Taylor. *t;:ble hand, of Tamahere,; after he wa* knocked down by a motor car on the Tamaher» Straight on the Cambridge-Hamilton main highway on November 7. wa* a ■»eri<* of charges preferred against Reginald Hogsirt. of Putarnru, in the Hamilton Magistrate's Court tliis morning. | Hogart was charged with negligent driving, thereby causing Taylor's death, with failing to stop and render assistance, with failing to report to the polic:-. and with failing to carry a warrant of fitness. Janvv Gcrrard Burton, stnble hand, stated that he was walking wlih deceased on the siiinplc on the side of the I road when Taylor was suddenly swept ' from his side. Witness estimated the speed of accused's ear at between 40 and 5U m'lfs an hour. The car, he said, | slackened speed after the impact. Witj ness c'uincd the vehicle, which later I accelerated and disappeared. i Taylor was thrown to the side of the road, receiving injuries' from which'* he I' died later. The case is proceeding.
