IMMEDIATE EFFORTS LIKELY
(By TpJesraph.— Parliamentary Reporter.)
WELLTXGTOX, this day
"Tf the new legislation which has been drafted to assist the development of the oil industry is passed there is little doubt that major oil interests will make an immediate and vigorous effort to find petroleum in Xew Zealand in payable quantities." says the Minister of Mines, the Hon. P. C. Webb, in his annual statement presented to Parliament today.
The statement adds: "There is scarcely any development which would mean more to the Dominion than the successful search for oil."
In expressing the view that the legislation would be welcomed by all who were genuinely interested in the progress of-the industry, he said the bill would be submitted to Parliament in a very short time.
