The Rev. J. A. Thomson, in moving the appointment of Mr. Riddle, said he was 57 years of age and was at present in the Punjab. He was ordained in March, 1003, cind had therefore been 34 years in the ministry. In 1912 he began his missionary work in the Punjab, and for 25 years had rendered wonderful service to the Church. Xo one had done greater service in the Indian mission field.
During the war Mr. Riddle served as chaplain with the Indian troops, and had contracted a serious illness, which almost cost him his life. He would be returning on furlough next year, and Mr. Thomson thought it fitting to call him to the Church as Moderator. Mr. Riddle was a man who would dignify the office and do a great deal to inspire missionary effort —a very crying need to-day. The motion was seconded by the Rev. G. H. Jupp, who paid a high tribute to the service Mr. Riddle had rendered to the Church and his great work in the mission Held.
