VALAMITO'S EFFORT.
TAKANTNI GALLOPS. INVER ALSO GOES WELL.
The inside grass, on which the poles were 20ft out, was available for fast work at Takanini this morning, and several smart gallops were recorded, the best being those of Valamito. Round Up, Inver, and Anion.
Round Up and High Sea were associated over six furlongs in 1.16 3-5, the former being three lengths in front at the end. Inver, with an advantage in the wieghts, defeated Anion by a length over five furlongs in 1.3 2-5, the last three occupying 38 2-ss. Sir Robin was under restraint while covering half a mile in 565. Palustre was timed to run the last half mile of five furlongs in 53 2-sb. Perillus was three lengtha clear of Brazilian at the completion of half a mile in 51 3-ss. Valamito, with the assistance of Grateful over the first three furlongs in 38a, and Pamela and Red Ledger over the last half mile in 525, was timed to traverse a mile in 1.43. It was a good effort on the part of Valamito, but he was assisted by only carrying a very light weight. Arvakur and Hot Box were on terms throughout three furlongs, which occupied 37 2-ss, while Royal Passage was sent a round, averaging 15s to the furlong. Golden Spahi and Lap Up were not timed over five furlongs. Ivy Willonyx pleased better than Inquisitor over three furlongs in 40s. Spearcourt was going better than Silver Glow after running five furlongs in 1.5 2-5, the last three in 40s. Royevrus was two lengths clear of Milaneon and Pleuron at the completion of two furlongs in 25 3-ss, while over a similar distance True Bill and the Oration filly recorded 23 2-ss.
