OVERSEAS LEAGUE.
TALK ON JAVA
Mrs. Nello Porter entertained Oversea*. League members and their friends at a most enjoyable afternoon held at the league clubrooms yesterday. The subject of Mrs. Porter's talk was "Java and the Javanese,** and she gave graphic descriptions of the country and its people. Mrs. Porter also showed exhibits of batik work and of other novelties which weYe typical of the country and which were of interest to everyone. The speaker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks at the conclusion of her lecture. Afternoon tea was then served, the hostesses being Mrs. Tomkinson, Miss File and Miss Nolan. Miss Emerson was in the chair.
