F. DAVIS RETURNS.

TEAM IN GOOD ORDER. FORTHCOMING EXGAGKMKXTS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WOODVILLE, Tuesday. The Woodville trainer F. Davis returned yesterday by the Awatea from Sydney with the horses Courtcraft, Francis Drake, Homily ami Aiwai. The team arrived looking in good order after tbeir Australian campaign, and £1300 in stake money was secured between them on the trip; Courtcraft's failure in the V.R.O. Derby v.*as attributed to him getting his tongue over the bit, causing him to hang badly during the race. The Limond colt, who created a very big impression over there, is now to be prepared for the Great Northern Derby at Auckland at Christmas, when a clash between him and Royal Chief should be one of the highlights of that meeting. The two-year-old filly Homily will make her first appearance in the Foal Stakes at hllerslic, and on the form she displayed in Sydney there is no doubting the class of this filly. A slow beginner for a two-year-old, this filly displays a brilliant finishing run in her races. Francis Drake, who suffered a cracked hoof early on the trip and could not fulfil later engagements, has now made a good recovery, and is likely to be racing at Christmas. The Hastings jockey P. Atkins also returned by the Awatea.
