MOTOR CYCLE NOTES.

CLASSIC JOHN BULL EVENT.

Considered by motor cyclists throughout the Dominion as the classic event of the year, the John Bull 24-hour reliability trial, over 514 miles of rough country, will be held next Saturday. The first rider will leave from the clubrooms of the Auckland Motor Cycle Club in Grey's Avenue, at 2.30 p.m., other competitors following at intervals of two minutes. The course runs through Thames, Hamilton, Tauranga, Coromandel and Mercury Bay, thence back to Auckland, via New Brighton and Clevedon. The first man to finish should be back in the city about 1.45 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. The mere feat of starting and finishing in this event is considered to be a severe test.

Followers of broadsiding will regret to hear that the popular rider Bob Harrison, who rode at Western Springs two seasons ago, broke a. leg while competing at Wembley Speedway recently. Putt Mossman is at present under contract in Australia, but he will be in New Zealand early next year to ride for the Auckland Speedway Club.

Hennings Speedway is at present undergoing slight alterations, and & fast track will be ready for riders in January, when the Auckland Motor Cycle Club intends to hold two meetings there.

The Auckland Motor Cycle Club's monthly meeting will be held at the club rooms to-night at 8 p.m.
