LIGHTS SUGGESTED.
REGISTRATION PLATES. i Considerable interest was taken La a demonstration of an illuminated number plate in England recently, following a suggestion that the regulations concerning the illumination and visibility of rear number plates at night might be revised. The number plate demonstrated formed the front of a shallow box with an inclined back plate, which formed a reflector. In the top of the box were a number of small bulbs so spaced that even illumination was provided throughout the box. The edgeg of the letters and numerals were outlined by small holes, thus making them plainly visible at a considerable distance at night. The red rear light also was incorporated in the plate.
A feature of the plate was that the email holes outlining the settlers and numerals were counter-sunk from the rear, leaving knife-like edges, which prevented them from becoming stopped by mud or dust. The plate could be clcaned by hosing, and drainage holes were provided in the bottom of the box.
