ONEHUNGA ASSOCIATION.

Mr. J. Park, Mayor of Onehunga, who was present at the annual meeting of the Onehunga Cricket Association, furnished a comprehensive report on the Borough Council's development scheme at Waikaraka Park. He intimated that, although progress had been retarded by wet weather, the council would be in a

position to provide six wickets for the coming season. He said that the borough engineer had discovered deposits of a soil several feet below the old surface of the park, which experts had pronounced aB being equal to that obtained from Port Albert. This soil would be given a trial on the new pitches.

Officers elected: Patron, Mr. J. Park; vice-patron. Mr. J. D. Twentyman; president. Mr. J. E. Green; secretary, Mr. T. Cowley: assistant secretary, Mr. J. Willis; treasurer, Mr. G. Stoupe; auditor, Mr. W. R. Hookings; chairman of the management committee, Mr. P. Jamieson.

It was decided to open the season on November 6.

The annual report stated that owing to the excavations on the Waikaraka grounds the season's cricket was unsatisfactory, but in spite of all difficulties the association was able to complete its championchip and supplementary fixtures, both of ,which were won by the Onehunga Club. The president's bat for the highest average score was won. by C. Williams and the S.O.S. bat for the highest single score by G. Stoupe. The treasurer, Mr. T. Collins, reported the finances to be in a sound condition, there being a credit balance of £11, with | no liabilities. Representatives of the City 3*6 Suburban Cricket Association, who were present by invitation, made certain suggestions for playing inter-association matches. These were unanimously agreed to.
