Formalities Connected With
Duke's Visit. PROBLEM OF RECEPTIONS. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, October 4. The Ministry of Propaganda, according to a Berlin message, says the Press reports were the first it had heard of the visit to Germany of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. It adds that it is strange it had not been told, but doubtless the visit is a private one. It is impossible to state whether Herr Hitler will receive the Duke.
The Washing-ton correspondent of the United Press says the State Department declined to comment on the forthcoming visit of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, but indicated that a statement would be made shortlv.
It is not known whether the Department was previously informed of the visit, but it is learned that State experts already have studied the ceremonial problems involved, for which there are no precedents, thus making the problem very difficult.
There is great speculation in official circles as to who will meet the Duke and Duchess when they disembark and whether they will be given a reception at the White House.
