MR. PERCY FAITHFUL
For many years "Mr. Percy Faithful, whose death has occurred, was bush manager for the Kauri Timber Companv. He was educated at the YVaiwera school and commenced work in the timber industry at the age of 15. Later he engaged in bush contracting, a work which took him to every part of the North Island. He became one of the biggest contractors in New Zealand. When Mr. Faithful was associated with Messrs Faithful. McConnell, Bailey and Dykes in the Tairua district the huge total of 80.000,000 feet of timber was milled. This was Mr. Faithful's last big contract before taking up farming in the Matatoki district. It was in 1923. however, that the call of the bush made itself again manifest and Mr. Faithful accepted the post of chief bush manager for the Kauri Timber Company. He spent some time on San Oristoval in tlie Solomon Islands reporting on the Kauri forests there. Mr. Faithful is survived by his wife and a daughter, Mrs. J. Allen, of Mount Albert.
