STREET COLLECTION.
MORE THAN £200 RECEIVED. With still a few returns to be added, over £200 was collected yesterday in the city and suburbs as a result of the joint appeal of the New Zealand Society for the Protection of Women and Children and the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, organised by the Mayoress of Auckland. reappointment was expressed by members of the committee to-day that the amount collected was not up "to expectations, especially in view of the sum raised last year. About 14 stalls were erected in different parts of the city and collectors were on the streets from 7.30 o'clock in the morning. The Takapuna branch of the Hospital Auxiliary will receive half the total amount of the MuuliftT£'§ tliajre.
