WIFE TO PAY.
Alimony for Husband Who Does Housework. STRANGE MARRIAGE STORY. (Received 12.30 p.m.) LOS ANGELES, October 1. Applying for an order that his wife pay alimony to him, Elwin Pope, 69, told the Court a story of a marriage in which he household duties and his wife, who was a schoolteacher, earned the family living. He said that since the marriage in 1931 he had scrubbed floors, washed dishes and cut lunches. His wife said she turned down the gas under a saucepan whereupon Pope angrily hurled her away, declaring that he was running the house. The wife was ordered to pay the husband 35 dollars (£7) a month temporary alimony.
