NATIONAL COUNCIL.
ANNUAL MEETING. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The Dominion National Council of Women held their annual meeting in the Y.W.C.A. assembly hall last night. It was decided that the conference next year should be held at Christchurch in the last week of September. The election of Dominion officers resulted as follows:— President, Miss Mildred Trent (Christchurch) ; secretary, Miss F. E. Cooper (Christchurch); treasurer, Mrs. E. McNair (Auckland), re-elected unopposed; convener for the new standing committee for broadcasting, Miss Havelaar; convener for housing, Miss I. Jamieson; convener for arts and crafts, Miss Copeland; honorary auditor, Miss Alice Basten, re-elected. In presenting the treasurer's report, Mrs. McNair stated that the year had closed with a credit balance in the general account of £09 and in the capital account of £200. During the meeting meml>ers stood in silence as a tribute to the memory of the late Dr. Ada Patterson and the late Miss Pattrick, former director of Plunket nursing in New Zealand. It was decided to send a letter of congratulation to Dr. Elizabeth Gunn on her recent Government appointment. In the afternoon delegates for the conference were driven to Ngaruawahia to inspect the work of the Maoris at Princess Te Puea'a pa. Before leaving for Ngaruawahia they were entertained at lunch by Mrs. David Nathan at her home in Manurewa.
