Mr. H. E. Valentine, second assistant general manager of railways, is visiting Auckland. The Rev. Father A. Zangerl, of Whangape, left for Sydney by the Niagara to-day. Mr. Claude Kingston, concert manager for Messrs. J. C. Williamson, Limited, left by the Niagara for Sydney to-day. Mr. R. E. Bindley, advertising manager of the Ford Motor Company of New Zealand, Ltd., arrived in Auckland this morning. Mr. L. J. Green berg has relinquished the general secretaryship of the Wellington Y.M.C.A. for a commercial position in Dunedin. Mr. J. M. Ilott, of Wellington, who returned from the Islands by the Maunganui to-day, will leave for Wellington to-night. Mr. H. J. Kelliher, of Auckland, returned by the Maunganui to-day from the Islands cruise. He was accompanied by Mrs. Kelliher. Mr. M. Suzuki, New Zealand representative of the Yamashita Kisen Kaisha Line, arrived in Auckland by the Limited express from Wellington to-day. Dr. O. C. Earp-Thomas, of Wellington, accompanied b\' Mrs. Thomas and their daughter, returned by the Maunganui to-day after the Islands cruise. Thev are at the Grand Hotel. The Hon. J. .A. Hanan, M.L.C., chancellor of tlit University of New Zealand, who returned from a trip to England by the Niagara on Monday, left for the South by train last night. Mr. Lan H. Smith, inspector of electric lighting for the electricity department of the Wellington City Council, lias been appointed electrical overseer of the Government Housing Construction Department.

The Rev. D. N. MacDiarmid, rectordesignate of missions of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, left yesterday to visit home mission stations in the South. LieutenantCommander Watt is chief aerodrome officer to the Indian Government. Sir Stenson Cooke, general secretary of the Automobile Association of Great Britain, will visit New Zealand in March next. Sir Stenson was invited to make a holiday tonr of the Dominion by the Automobile Association (Auckland) two years a pro, but was forced to postpone his visit. Mr. Alex Churcher, who has spent nearly two years in New Zealand as a Toe H worker, will leave by the Mariposa from Auckland on September 20. He is returning to England via Canada and the United States to take up an appointment on the headquarters staff of Toe H in London. Mr. Gordon Turvey, who has been appointed organising secretary for the Toe H movement in the Dominion, was •Jue to reach Wellington by the Rangitane from England to-day. He was formerly secretary of Toe H in the north-western area of England, with headquarters in Liverpool. Mr. E. MuTler, who has occupied the position of vice-president of the Nestle and Anglo-Swiss Holding Company, Ltd., Vevey, Switzerland, was, at a "recent meeting of the board of directors of that company, elected to the position of president, in succession to Dr. Louis E. C. Dapples, whose death was recently reported.
