ACCELERATOR WORKING.
Some cases of high fuel consumption have been traced to the driver's habit of working the accelerator up and down *°°, "equently and unnecessarily. Modern carburettors usually have an accelerating pump, a jet or jets of petrol being directed into the mixing passage every time the accelerator ie depressed. Do not open the throttle more than is necessary to obtain a required speed. In other worde, drive steadily, not jerkily. Let us repeat that over-chok-ing is both extravagant of fuel and harmful to the engine. If in doubt, have the choke action checked by a eervice man conversant with your particular car. 1
