EXPERT ADVICE.

CUTTING DOWN REPAIRS. MAIN DANGER SIGNALS. The service department of a wellknown motor firm has issued a list of the main items about a car or truck that either need regular attention or act as warnings of coming trouble. If attention ie paid to these thinge at the outset the eventual repair bill will be greatly minimised. The liet is ae follows: — 1. Do not run further than is strictly necessary alter your amp. meter has signalled "no charge." Expensive work on generators ie often caused by an open circuit. 2. Oil leaks from rear main bearings can often "be traced to neglect of the filtering element in breather fitted to the oil filter cap. 3. Oil bath air cleaners are now standard equipment and, depending on the service to which the unit is put, should receive regular attention on a mileage basis. It is a simple matter to clean the bowl and refill with fresh oil to the

level indicated. Aβ it is possible to collect ae much as a pound of dust in a day's run, the vital importance of this precaution is self-evident. 4. The oil filter in the pump circuit is not there for fun and we most strongly recommend changing this unit at intervale not exceeding 10.000 miles. 5. Avoidance of braking troubles ie considerably aided by giving regular attention to wheel bearings; 5000 miles in a month is only normal work for a transport or bus run and we have found changes of the grade of great value in the lubrication of these important parts during the different seasons. 6. Do not neglect your braking system and avoid those cheap fluids which, over a year, can prove so expensive. The manufacturer has given you the best he can obtain. It is surely your duty to buy only the fluid and part* recommended. 7. Clutch troubles are easy to keep within proper limits. One simple precaution is to see that there is clearance between pedal and toe board with the clutch engaged, so avoiding slipping, with ite attendant evils.
