HOME TO BE ESTABLISHED.
AID FOR ELDERLY WOMEN.
The estate of Mrs. Emma Gillibrand, of Nbrthcote, who died on June 23 last at the age of 91, is- to be devoted to establishing a home for elderly women in poor circumstances. The home is to be called the "Emma Gillibrand Home for Women," and the estate has been valued for probate at under £16,000. It is provided in the will of the testatrix that the home is to be for widows, and single women exceeding the age of 55, who are of good character and who have been resident continuously in New Zealand for not less than 15 years, and whose total income does not exceed £52 a year. It is also stipulated that a committee shall be set up to control and manage the home, the committee to consist of the trustee of the testatrix, her solicitor (Miss Ellen Melville), the Mayoress of Auckland, the Mayoress of Northcote, the president of the Auckland branch of the National Council of Women, the lady superintendent of the Auckland Hospital, and the president of the Auckland Ladies' Benevolent Society. In no case shall there be any discrimination against any applicant on account of denominational or religious belief.
