MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.

Talisman Dnbbo (Karangahake).—Fortnight ended June 26: Dubbo level—Stoping: The reef in the stopes from 638 ft to 064 ft north is of an average width of 12in. Work in this area has been temporarily stopped. Stoping on eastern section of the lode has been continued, and the leading stope has been beaten out to 35ft south, Dubbo rise, and* the stopes are 16ft above Dubbo level. The lode is averaging 10in, average values very good. The drive on the eastern section has been extended to 37ft north of Dubbo nee and is within a few feet of holing through to the main Dubbo level. The reef north of Dubbo rise maintains an average of 12in, values very good. Talisman No. 2 level—The level has been extended to 1043 ft south. The lode in the face Is 12in wide, of rubbly quartz and clay. Stoping has been carried on from 760 ft south to 1002 ft south at heights varying from 6ft to 80ft above level. The lode is fairly continuous and varies in width from 6in to 42in; values are very good. No. 4 level—The drive hae been advanced to 304 ft south of crosscut. At the 300 ft south peg another crosscut was met. Work at this point was slowed up somewhat owing: to the drive being wide and ailed with a mass of collapsed timber and country rock. This has now been cleaned out and retimbered and a start made cleaning up the drive running south on the strike of the Maria lode. Progress ehould be fairly fast during the next period. No. 7 level— The drive has been advanced to 240 ft south through collapsed etopes. Assays taken from 196 ft south to 236 ft south, average values are good. The lode varies In width from 40in to 72in.

Golden Dawn Gold Mines, Limited.— Mine report for fortnight ending June 26:—No. 3 level: Crosscut west off No. 1 reef north driven 28ft. Country is still disturbed. No. 3 level: Drive north on reef off No. 1 reef north driven 12ft. Beef averages 131n, value 6/3. No. 3 level: Drive north on No. 2 reef driven 30ft. Reef 141n wide, value 13/3 per ton. No. 3 level: Crosscut off drive north on No. 2 reef driven 24ft. At this point a reef 12in wide wae cut, value £8 1/7 per ton. So far as can be seen at present this is a new reef not a cut In any other level. It will be known as No. 4 reef for the present. No. 3 level: Stoping on reef No. 1 reef north. Reef averages 19in wide, value 8/10 per ton. No. 3 level: Stoping No. 2 reef north. Reer 14in wide, value £3 14/6 per ton. No. 3 level: Stoping on westwall branch reef south. Reef 18in wide, last assay «25 16/9 per ton. Bottom intermediate level: Stoping on westwall branch reef north. Reef 12in wide, value £1 9/ per ton. Bottom intermediate level: Stoping on westwall branch reef north averages 9in, value «8 10/ per ton. Bottom intermediate level: Under hand •topee on "No. 1 reef south averages 23in wide, value £18/ per ton. Bottom intermediate level: Stoping on reef formation off drive south. Reef 141n wide, value £3 H/l per ton.

Big River Gold Mines, Limited (Reefton). Gold returns from June 14 to 30: —Battery department: 118 tons ore crushed for IBBoz lvdwt melted gold. Cyanide department: No clean-up has been made. Total estimated value, £1332. Note: In estimating the above values gold has been taken at 145/ per fine ounce. Maerewhenua (Wf-st Coast).—Return for June, 12Joz, value £01. The exceptionally severe frosts of thp last fortnight resulted in the freezing of the races, and production has been temporarily suspended until a thaw sets in. Big River (Reef ton). —Report for the period ended July 1 : No. 5 centre intermediate —In the south end of the stop? where the stone has been 6ft wide, the hangingwall is coming over the flat toward the footwall, which is coming up to meet it In the north end of the stope the stone is in broken Beams, which vary from ISin to 3ft wide. Stoping is temporarily suspended while repairs to the battery are being carried out, and driving has been resumed in the north end of the intermediate, where there are some small seams of stone in the hangingwall side of the drive. Xo. 5 south intermediate—A leading stope has been started on the block of stone and there appears to be a strong body of ore here. Stoping has been temporarily stisprnjed and driving on the north fa?e resumed. The material from here, which is reef track with a few small seams of stone, is being used to fill the leading stope in south block at No. 5 level, which has been carried along for 45ft at an average width of about ?ft. There has been faulting overhead in this stone, and it looks as if the stone overhead has been thrust more into the hangingwall. A total of 281 tons was delivered to the surface bins.

NOKOMAI PROSPECTS.

It was stated by the chairman, Mr. H. L. Gill at the annual meeting of the Nokomai Goldmlning Company in Dunedln that, considering all the factors, the yield during ?he coming year should be £15,000 or £20,000 worth of gold. A Shareholder": Will there be any dividend? I can see no chance of a dividend for next year at any rate. Mr F T. Mllnee, a director, said that on the average the Nokomal ground would produce 400oz of gold to the quarter acre. He thought that for the next two years they should get 25000z at about £7 an ounce. He was aure there would be no dividend this year. The company had liabilities to meet, and also Its debentureholders to consider. If it could get Us liabilities cleared up this year there was hope for dividneds in the future.

NEMONA DIVIDEND.

The directors of the Nemona Gold Dredging Co., Ltd. (West Coast), have declared a dividend of Id per 1/ share. This Iβ the company's fourth dividend and represents a distribution of £1500, making a total of £6000 paid In dividends since operations commenced in June, 1936. Payment will be made on July 12.
