EXTENSION LIKELY.
CENTRAL POLICB STATION. It is considered likely that in view of the acute shortage of accommodation the central police station in Auckland will ehortly be enlarged. Part of the scheme, it is thought, provides for the demolition of the inspector's residence in O'Rorke Street and the extension of the present building. It is probable that if buildings on the O'Rorke Street site Were extended, alterations and remodelling of the present building would follow. Expansion of the force coupled with Aorter hours of duty have made increasing demands on accommodation.
