SNOW AT CHATEAU.
CONDITIONS IMPROVING. GOOD SKIING PROSPECTS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THE CHATEAU, this day. Snow fell steadily at National Park yesterday afternoon and it was anticipated that the long-awaited sports conditions would be enjoyed. On the higher levels in the vicinity of Salt Hut a layer three inches thick was lying to-day. Although indications last night were for continued falls, the sky to-day was blue and the sun was shining strongly. Recent frosty weather had hardened the surface, making conditions for sports unsuitable. Over the week-end the Chateau was filled to capacity with excursionists. The prospect of further falls is pleasing to ski-ing enthusiasts in view of the coming championships, which will be held from July 17 to July 30. At this carnival it is hoped that the American University ski champions will be present.
