Y.M.C.A. ACTIVITY.
MANY ORGANISATIONS. The Auckland Y.M.C.A."s Coronation appeal for £12,000 to reduce its debt, to modernise its equipment and to extend its activities will commence on •luly 7 and extend over two weeks, finishing on tlie 22nd. Some idea of the extensive nat't'"e of the work of the association can be gained by a review of the various activities last night. In the gymnasium, under the supervision of Mr. J. C. Bonham, 40 young boys were engagedTeams of young men were taking part in basketball games. About .'lO or 40 were taking part in a table tennis tourIt,intent. Badminto'i courts were being well patronised, and the Y.M.C.A. headquarters in Wellesley Street were running at full capacity, as far as sport was concerned. In other parts of the bu'lding the cultural side of t lie work wa-; in full swing. In one room npwtirds of 20 young men were engaged in debates and discussions, mostly dealing with * the new leisure that has been afforded by recent legislation, and the best ways to utilise this leisure time.
