It is suggested that the governor should be in operation pei maiienth- in the ease of commercial motors subject to either the 20 m.p.h. or the :i(l m.p.h. general speed limit, and on ears while these are in a restricted nieu, an indicator visible from the roadside showing whether the governor is operative or not. In England speed governors are already fitted to quite a number of heavy lorries and vans; their purpose is not, however, to restrict the vehicle spM to any particular legal limit but to pre von t the safe maximum speed of fcW engine on any of the gears from talng exceeded.-
