BELMONT FATALITY.

WEEK-END ACCIDENTS.

BOY HURT ON REACH. There were fewer road accidents during the week-end in the Auckland district than for some weeks past, although one woman was killed and another injured when they were struck by a motor car at Belmont on Saturday night. Mrs. Eva Elizabeth Hunt, aged 26, of 3, Corolla Road. Takapnna, suffered fata! injuries, and Miss Oabrielle Beattie, aged 20, of Esplanade Road, Mount Eden, suffered concussion, facial injuries and shock. Her condition is not serious. The two women were crossing Victoria Street, Belmont, shortly before 8 o'clock, when they were struck by a motor car driven by Mr. John Albeit Gibson, aged 20, who lives at Prince's Court Flats, Prince's Street, City. He was proceeding towards Takapuna. Both women were thrown heavily to the ground, Mrs. Hunt receiving the main force of the impact. She was dead when Dr. Stewart Mackay, of Takapnna, arrived. After medical attention had been given to Miss Beattie she was taken to her home. Yesterday she had an X-ray examination at the Auckland Hospftal. There were three other passengers in the car, one of whom, Mr. John Joseph Oamble, ajjed 21, a clerk, of 200, Parnell Road, suffered a cut on the hand when the windscreen was shattered. The car was little damaged. Mrs. Hunt is survived by her husband, Mr. T. P. S. Hunt, and two children. Medical Cases. Although St. John ambulances were busy during the week, calls were mainly for medical cases, and trips were made to Papakura, Pukekohe, Te Atatu, and twice to French Bay. There were also many in the metropolitan area. One of the rung to French Bay, Titirangi, was to convey to hospital a three-year-old child. John Allan Millett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Millett. of French Bay, who suffered head injuries when plnvins on the beach. The child slipped and fell backward, striking his head'on a rock. He was given attention bv Dr. E. Mecredy. of Hamilton, and taken to the Auckland Hospital. His condition this mornincr had improved, but is regarded as fairly serious.
